Why does it have to take so damn long?

Sat Dec 12, 2009, 4:33 PM
So I missed the christmas rush of seling online with the new Dollfie costumes I'm working on, that really annoy's me I hoped to be finished by now.
And even though it is essentially five full outfits, and all hand sewn the several months it has taken me already, looking at the same damn fabrics for months at a time makes me insane! I think the fact that I spend so much time on these things getting them just right, is why by the time they're finished I'm so sick of looking at them. I just had another issue pop up, I'm making an authentically styled 14th century gown which has fur around the cuffs, collar and hem, but if I just sew the fur on it won't be washable, and then how can I make the fur panels detachable without compromising the authenticity of the garment and using domes or velcro? The answer; a painstaking matter of sewing dozens of tiny glass bead buttons around those area's and lining the fur, and sewing dozens of tiny corresponding hand sewn buttonholes. COMPLETE MADNESS!
Why do I do these things to myself?
I wonder how many people would even care if it's authentic or covered in silly little metal domes.

some I sculpt by hand some I buy the body parts and then sculpt "extra bits" root the hair in, paint them and then hand sew all the costumes for. I'm a bit of a nutter for details so everything is usually as close to the real full sized garment as I can get it. That's why I end up spending way too much time on each one.
