Literature Text

The copper night fails to darken
And splinters of light
Strike out blindly between the shadows
I can smell cold memories of death
In the heavy, dampening air,

As I go

Forget me
And you'll be forgotten,
Forgive me, and go free
Wrong me
And your hate will turn on you
Love
And much joy you shall see.

It's the warm side of midwinter's day
I crave an epic frost,
And a western wind, and a smile
And as I roam
Beneath sprawling skymaps
Twisted eaves,
The trees, tightly strung
As violins,
Play each other, creaking.

I wrote this in my head, one chilly morning while I was out walking under the trees, alongside a river.

I really like this. I can't quite place it, it seems to fascinate and scare me both at once.
