Literature Text

What can one say
To the giver of words
Dear Lady I thank thee,
In peace now I send thee,
My mind is clear and free from doubt
And all from your belief
My verses weave, as I cast them out
Take form in the faith you had.

Dear Lady I thank thee,
In love heaven greet thee,
The deepest hate I held for you
Because you always changed my lines
But I realised, because of you
I could believe in what's mine.

I still believe in me,

And even now,
I see you correcting my words

Thank you, dear Lady
Dear lady I thank thee
In greatness I leave thee
Sage to the ages,

And go on my way
Believing I too have greatness.

I wrote this at the funeral of my high school English teacher.
Written about my High School English teacher, she had been teaching at that school for decades, and I didn't like her at first.
